New: Champagne Gosset Blanc de Blanc Extra Brut

Gosset Celebris Blanc de Blancs Extra BrutChampagne Gosset has released the latest addition to its Celebris range – a Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut.

To produce Cuvée Celebris Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut, the cellar master Jean-Pierre Mareigner has chosen the Chardonnay from four vintages, 11 crus and used only the ‘finest methods of vinification’.  True to the character of Champagne Gosset, there is no malolactic fermentation, to preserve the natural freshness and the aromatic powers of Chardonnay. In order to maximise the quality of these fine crus from the best years, the wine will require some time in bottle to mature and ’express itself’.  Dosage was reduced to its simplest expression in order to allow the wine to reveal itself, after many years of ageing in the heart of the Gosset cellars in Ay.

“We assembled and blended our Blanc de Blancs cru by cru, element by element, vintage by vintage,” adds Odilon de Varine, “and we are proud of the result – our own unique interpretation of Chardonnay.”

An haute-couture case for an haute-couture wine

Gosset’s celebrated Blanc de Blancs is packed in a contemporary cylindrical white, leatherette-style case.  The elegant pack is topped with a “saddle bag” handle for ease of carriage. Held together by a monogrammed Champagne Gosset clasp, two partitions slide open to reveal the distinctive antique style bottle, an exact reproduction of the bottle used by Jean Gosset in the 18th century.

Cuvée Celebris Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut is only made in small quantities. It is expected to retail for around £100 (US$200) per bottle.
