Thresher 40% Off Voucher - Another Success?
Threshers, the UK nationwide Off-Licence chain, met with huge success last December with a money off voucher. Such promotions are not usually known for making national (and international) news and front pages of the press.
But this promotion was different. It used the viral nature of blogs to spread the word of the voucher across the country. The deal of 40% off was good, better than Threshers usual ’standard’ deals. It spread like wild-fire and netted the company an estimated £15 million worth of trade in the crucial run-up to Christmas.
And now they are at it again. Another voucher has been released by the creative chaps behind the Stormhoek brand. The timing is different, Easter instead of Christmas, a busy time for the wine trade but not as dramatic as the festival period. Will they have such a huge success?
Last time the story was that the voucher was supposed to be for trade and a selected free friends of Threshers. It obviously wasn’t but the lure of ‘getting one over’ such a large company helped in a huge way with the vouchers success across the blogosphere and soon after across forums and those social networks many people enjoy.
