Club Barolo plus: the internet guide for barrique free Barolo
It’s always interesting to see how big wines have a great appeal on wine lovers from all the world. I think about wines coming from Bordeaux, from Bourgogne, from Champagne, or about the German’s Riesling or the Hungarian’s Tokaij.
During the last few years this kind of charm is ranging also on the most important Italian wines: , Brunello di Montalcino, Barbaresco, etc. A lot of people are giving life to wine clubs devoted to them.
One is , UK. Its topic is Barolo but not only: a particular regard is for Barbaresco. It is the result of an idea of John Wheaver, one of the most known connoisseurs of Italian wines, specifically from . He is an engineer, a member of the and member of the Compagnia dei Vignaioli, La Morra.
I read on the club’s website a very interesting ‘peculiarity’: the club is completely devoted to barrique free wines! The website has been developed to help English fans find true Barolo and Barbaresco!
What does it mean? It means that the club doesn’t want wines affected by French barrique. According to them, this is a negative and misleading methodology to use barrique during the fermentation because it give a different nature to the wines. And it’s a difference historically impossible to accept.
Bravo Fabio
I was just thinking about that subject over on my blog
