Wines From Delicious Magazine
I have a article fermenting on the subject of sustainable agriculture verses organic (to me the former is preferable) but Organic rules the roost (or barrique) at the moment.
Three organic wines are recommended in this months Delicious (reviewed on ) -
Waitrose Italian Rosso, 2005, Marche, Italy (Waitrose £4.99) “easy-drinking, gentle organic red with appealing strawberry and cherry depths and a smooth, soft style”
Fetzer Bontera Zinfandel 2004, Mendocino, California (£9.99) “beefy organic red, loaded with ripe cassis and blackberry flavours with a twist of pepper”
Co-Op Fairtrade Argentine Pinot Grigio, 2006, Famatina Valley, Agentina (£4.99) “it’s all aromatic melons and pears and a crispy, tangy, finish.
A handful of food and wine matching ideas pop-up thoughtout this issue. With the delicious looking Venison Fillet with Beetroot Puree a ’serious, fairly powerful red’ is recommended. ‘Try a top-ntch red ordeaux from the Medoc region’. Sound advice for any venison dish. With Oven-baked Porcini, mushroom and Taleggio rice - a recipe I was going to try tonight, except I’ve just eaten the last of the Taleggio in a post-pub munch - they suggest a ‘well-balanced Italian red such as Chianti or Dolcetto’ and with Baked Ham, Cheddar and Leek Winter Squashes ‘a ripe, fruity, oaky Aussie or Californian Chardonnay’.
